To create opportunities for students to participate in enriching theatrical experiences.

OUR FOCUS

Inclusion, equity and quality, giving the students and the public a well-balanced theatrical experience, and striving to meet with excellence all of the demands placed on educational theatre.

WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY:

• Producing two or more theatrical productions of high artistic quality each year
• Creating and cultivating a culture of kindness
• Building meaningful and lasting relationships with peers
• Increasing the theatre’s impact on and service to the school and the community
• Generating the necessary resources and efficiently managing those resources in support of the first four goals.

Join the HHS Theatre Booster Club

Our mission is to boost up the theatre department with financial and volunteer support for various activities of the theatre classes, the Purebred Productions shows, and the Thespian Honor Society Troupe.

We meet once a month to discuss the current and upcoming events, get updates from Mr. Solomon and our student leadership, and to plan future events.

There are many opportunities to get involved with as little or as much time commitment as you’d like to give.

A note from our Director:

High School Theatre in the state of Florida is unlike educational theatre in other parts of the country. It is highly competitive, robust, and thriving. The Hagerty Theatre Department, Purebred Productions, and Thespian Troupe 6885 are essential members of that community. We are a community of artists that strive to create meaningful stories and share them with the world. We are not a Drama program. Drama has such a negative connotation today; we steer away from that term. We are a Theatre Department, but more than that we are a family. It is like my boy Troy always says, “We’re all in this together.”

Our department is committed to creating and cultivating a culture of kindness. As a department it is our goal to work within our school and community to foster positive connections and build lasting relationships.

Joining our family is a commitment. A commitment to working hard and playing hard. It is a commitment to excellence and kindness. It is a commitment to learning not just on stage, but off stage and backstage as well. We encourage all members to become well-rounded theatre professionals, not only as performers, but as technicians and leaders. Each year, we endeavor to learn more and grow not only in our craft, but as humans.

The journey ahead is a long one, but we will take each step together. The Hagerty Theatre Department is unlike any other. It is a place where you are safe, loved, welcome and encouraged.
